An international collaboration led by researchers from I2BC/CEA-Joliot and IPBS (Toulouse) has solved the atomic structure of molecular assemblies involved in the repair of DNA double-strand breaks. The diversity of assemblies involving the PAXX protein identified in this study highlights the great flexibility of the repair machinery, which could reflect its ability to adapt to biological conditions. The results were published in Science Advances.

In 2017, researchers from the CEA-BIAM and the CEA-Joliot discovered an enzyme with a rare property: when activated by light, it enables microalgae to convert their fatty acids directly into hydrocarbons.
