Abstract | In the present work, we show the capacity of spatially resolved Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (DRS) to identify live and dead worms in ex vivo Onchocerca ochengi nodules. It demonstrates the potential of DRS to diagnose the worm state and to monitor the effect of a drug on macrofilariae. These results have been obtained in constrained conditions, leading to the proposal of a rigorous acquisition and analysis protocol that may contribute to standardized measures in diffuse optics. © 2017 SPIE-OSA. |
