The 20th edition of the Brain Awareness Week at NeuroSpin, from March 12th to 16th, was marked by a record number of visitors attending conferences and visiting the department. This success, also present at the national level, shows the growing interest of the public for neuroscience and hopes for advances in brain research.
On the 15th of March, the CNRS awarded the silver medal to Ghislaine Dehaene-Lambertz for her research on brain mechanisms of infants and young children in learning.
On the occasion of the Brain Awareness Week (12-18.3.2018), Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, met scientists from the neuroimaging center NeuroSpin, located at the CEA Paris-Saclay Center, accompanied by Daniel Verwaerde, CEA General Administrator, and Stanislas Dehaene, Director of NeuroSpin.
The Brain Awareness Week 2018 will take place from Monday, March 12th to Sunday, March 18th. On this occasion, NeuroSpin will open its doors to the public (from 12 to 16) by offering this year, in addition to visits from its imagers, a series of "interactive" conferences in which each speaker will be able to rely on a short video. More time will be spent on questions and answers.
To celebrate the remarkable work of NeuroSpin researchers over the past 10 years, a day of high-level scientific conferences was held on the 16th of February at NeuroSpin under the leadership of its director, Stanislas Dehaene.
Named Chairman of the Scientific Council of National Education by Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer, Stanislas Dehaene (Inserm / CEA-NeuroSpin / Paris-Sud University/ College de France) will coordinate the work and reflections of the council on learning to feed reflection about strategies to promote student learning. The constitution of the Scientific Council, composed of twenty-one members, was presented on the 10th of January 2018.
The Institute for Integrative Biology of the Cell - I2BC (including Teams from I2BC@Saclay) celebrated the laying of the foundation stone of its future building on the 13th of December 2017 on the CNRS campus in Gif-sur-Yvette. The objective of the I2BC real estate project is to bring together, within a common research and training project, Research Teams in a single location to stimulate interactions, share the most effective skills and equipment.
The first colloquium of the Department of Life Sciences of Paris-Saclay University - a department of which the Frédéric Joliot Institute is a member - was held on October 25th and 26th, 2017, in Orsay, at the Paris-Sud University campus (Faculty of Sciences, Cartan amphitheater).
The Neurofunctional Imaging Group (GIN - IMN) and the company Fealinx (formerly Cadesis) inaugurated in Bordeaux on October 23 the joint Ginesislab laboratory. The objective of this laboratory is to optimize the use of biomedical imaging data by developing a specific computer platform.
