UMR Genetic Stability, Stem Cells and Radiation

Published on 6 November 2024

UMR Genetic Stability, Stem Cells and Radiation (SGCSR) studies the molecular mechanisms ensuring DNA repair and genome stability and normal and cancer stem cell biology (germinal, hematopoietic and neural stem cells). Combination of these research themes gives to the UMR’s teams unique opportunities to develop original research topics aiming to characterize the cellular and tissue responses to genotoxic stress such as ionizing radiation. To this end, they develop several model systems (Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Helicobacter pylori) and preclinical models (mice). The goal is to provide a better understanding of the development of various cancer and non-cancer pathologies in order to propose new specific preventive and/or therapeutic strategies.
