Key Challenges and Opportunities and the Importance of High Channel Count Receivers for Ultra High Field MRI at 447MHz/ 10.5T

From 11/20/2023 to 11/20/2023
NeuroSpin amphitheater + Zoom

Pr Gregor Adriany – University of Minesota, Medical School - gave a talk.
Invitated by Alexis Amadon (UMR BAOBAB)

Short abstract:

The clear Signal-to-Noise and Parallel Imaging gains achievable with increased Magnetic Fields supported a meanwhile decade long push towards higher and higher MR static fields. This resulted in 7T as the currently highest available clinical approved field strengths and furthermore supports the push towards even higher fields of 10.5T and 11.7T and perhaps even 14T.  The talk will introduce relevant issues at such ultra-high fields for human MRI and will describe key technologies which were developed at the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (CMRR) to support first body and head imaging at 447MHz/ 10.5T with up to 16 transmitters and 128 receivers.
