On September 17, 2019, during the IAEA General Conference in Vienna, CEA, EDF and Westinghouse Electric Company signed a framework agreement to explore potential cooperation on small modular reactor (SMR) development.

The Iseult project magnet being installed at Neurospin (CEA Paris-Saclay) reached a nominal magnetic field of 11.7 teslas (T) on July 18, 2019. This is a world record for a whole-body magnetic resonance imager (MRI) magnet, the culmination of years of R&D, at the forefront of innovation in the field of superconducting magnets.

On the occasion of the state visit to France of the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, from March 24 to 26, 2019, CEA Deputy General Administrator Laurence Piketty renewed with the China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA) its cooperation agreement in the field of civilian applications of nuclear energy.
For the eighth consecutive year, the CEA has been ranked in the Top 100 Global Innovators thanks to its proactive intellectual property policy. It is the only French research body to appear in the Clarivate 2018 list.

CEA is participating in the International Conference for High Performance Computing to be held 11-16 November 2018 in Dallas, Texas. Among other things, CEA will present a demonstration of tile-based visualization for Big Data in neurobiology and astrochemistry.
