The Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, today announced plans for a new French-Australian collaboration between Australia’s first quantum computing company, Silicon Quantum Computing Pty Ltd (SQC), and the world leading French research and development organisation, the Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives (the CEA).

Biometric sensors for personal identification undergo a huge evolution since a few years. The expansion of this market will need low costs and convenient and easy-to-integrate technologies, both aspects answered by the European collaboration PYCSEL. The objective is to develop a flexible fingerprint sensor on plastic, building on the expertise from the CEA, the coordinator of PYCSEL, on this sensor technology in collaboration with 7 European key-partners.

4G has not been totally deployed that a European-Korean collaborative project, led by the CEA on the European side and ETRI on the Korean side, has already demonstrated the future services offered by the 5G during the last Winter Olympic Games in South Korea. 5GCHAMPION developed a fully integrated intercontinental 5G network proof of concept deployed at PyeongChang two years ahead of the official launch of 5G networks.

Vikram Solar and the CEA sign a Collaboration Agreement during French President, Mr Emmanuel Macron’s India visit. Liten, a CEA Tech institute, recently joined forces with France’s energy agency ADEME to assess the benefits combining electricity storage and renewable energy production could bring to micro-grids connected to the main grid on the island of Corsica.
