Since it was established, the CEA has supported and contributed the companies’ effort for innovation by putting its expertise and technologies at their service.
In the Suppliers area, you will find the CEA’s procurement policy and the possibility to consult and respond to current calls for tenders.
ENERGIES | NUCLEAR ENERGY | NUCLEAR FUSION | FUSION THROUGH INERTIAL CONTAINMENT | FUSION THROUGH MAGNETIC CONTAINMENT
High-level experts from around the world will discuss progress towards achieving energy production from nuclear fusion at an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) meeting next week. The 28th IAEA Fusion Energy Conference (FEC) will take place virtually from 10 to 15 May. It is organized by the IAEA and co-hosted by the ITER Organization and the Government of France through the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA).
INSTITUTIONAL | NUCLEAR ENERGY | ENERGIES
In March 2021, France has joined the NICE Future international initiative, where it will be represented by the General Directorate for Energy and Climate of the Ministry of Ecological Transition. CEA will bring its expertise.
INSTITUTIONAL | NUCLEAR ENERGY | RESEARCH REACTOR | NUCLEAR SAFETY
On January 14th, François Jacq, CEA Chairman, and Kamlesh Nilkanth VYAS, Secretary of the Indian Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), signed the renewal for a period of 5 years of their cooperation agreement in the field of nuclear science and technology for peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
ENERGIES | TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC ASPECTS OF ENERGY | ENERGY MIX | PROCESSES, TRANSPORT, GREEN IT
Bureau Veritas and the CEA execute the first validation of smart contracts by formal proof for the digital solution of the startup ENGIE TEO (The Energy Origin), reinforcing clients’ confidence on the origin of their green energy.
ENVIRONMENT | NEW TECHNOLOGIES | HEALTH & LIFE SCIENCES | ENERGIES
From January 11 to 14, 2021, the CEA will participate in the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) for the 7th consecutive year. For this 100% digital version, the CEA is supporting 3 startups spun off from its laboratories that have developed technological solutions in response to three major societal challenges: the energy transition, the digital transition and the medicine of the future.
SUPERCOMPUTERS
The CEA and RIKEN HPC experts met in October 2020, for their bi-annual Plenary Workshop. The event, organized online over 3 days, was the opportunity of a waypoint regarding joint R&D efforts on the different topics of the CEA-RIKEN collaboration. Since the previous workshop in March, an Activity Report summarising 3 years of fruitful collaboration – 2017-2019 - was issued, and the momentum and liveliness of joint efforts remained intact.
HEALTH & LIFE SCIENCES | BRAIN | METHODOLOGIES FOR LIFE SCIENCES | MEDICAL IMAGING | MRI
The European Commission once more places its trust on Multiwave company and its partners, Aix-Marseille Université , CEA and Université Catholique de Louvain to revolutionize ultra-high field magnetic resonance imaging of the brain.
ENVIRONMENT | RADIOACTIVITY
An international consortium of scientists, including the Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l'Environnement (LSCE - CEA/CNRS/UVSQ, Institut Pierre Simon Laplace, Université Paris-Saclay), used a new method to refine the map of caesium and plutonium radionuclide concentrations in soils in France and several neighbouring countries.
ENERGIES | RENEWABLE ENERGIES | HYDROGEN | FUEL CELLS
While Europe and certain Asian countries are announcing ambitious hydrogen plans, Symbio – a hydrogen fuel cell systems supplier and subsidiary of Michelin and Faurecia – and CEA, committed to the research and development of hydrogen technologies, are strengthening their historic relationship by signing a framework collaboration agreement. Aim: to accelerate the industrialisation of competitive hydrogen fuel cell systems on a world scale for the energy transition of transport.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL DISCIPLINES | TECHNOLOGIES | ROBOTICS
Developed by a consortium from the European robotics field, RobMoSys is a cost-effective way of extending robot use to various industrial sectors including agri-foods, manufacturing, farming and transport.
MATTER & THE UNIVERSE | CONTENT OF THE UNIVERSE | ORDINARY MATTER | PARTICLE PHYSICS
We live in a world of matter – because matter overtook antimatter, though they were both created in equal amounts by the Big Bang when our universe began. As featured on the cover of Nature on 16 April 2020, neutrinos and the associated antimatter particles, antineutrinos, are reported to have a high likelihood of differing behaviour that offers a promising path to explaining the asymmetry between matter and antimatter.
ENERGIES | NUCLEAR ENERGY | NUCLEAR SAFETY | SAFETY OF NUCLEAR FACILITIES | NUCLEAR REACTORS
Europe and China have combined their efforts to progress research into severe accidents in light-water reactors. Their work within the Alisa project is resulting in better understanding of potential core flooding and molten core cooling scenarios, inside and outside the vessel, as well as the behaviour of hydrogen according to reactor design.
HEALTH & LIFE SCIENCES | BIOTECHNOLOGY | DIAGNOSIS AND INNOVATIVE TREATMENT | NANOMEDICINE
REFINE is an European project aimed at developing a regulatory science framework for the risk/benefit assessment of new medicinal products and medical devices based on nanomedicine and biomaterials before clinical implementation.
TECHNOLOGIES | INNOVATION FOR INDUSTRY
CEA will be exhibiting 6 futuristic and advanced technologies and 4 startup in Las Vegas at CES 2020 and at CES Unveiled. This year's guideline? MOBILITY.
ENERGIES | RENEWABLE ENERGIES | NEW TECHNOLOGIES | HYDROGEN
On 8 October 2019, during the EARTO Innovation Awards in Brussels to recognise the best innovations of the year, the Smart Energy Hub and its rSOC technology (CEA/Sylfen) received first prize in the “Impact Expected” category.
