Initiated more than 30 years ago, the cooperation between the CEA and the CAEA is part of this cooperation agreement, whose 13th edition was signed on March 25, 2019, in the presence of Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Xi Jinping. Renewed for a period of 3 years, this agreement aims to strengthen their collaboration particularly in the following areas: basic research, the application of nuclear technologies, nuclear reactors, controlled fusion, the nuclear fuel cycle and the management of nuclear fuel, radioactive waste, the joint development of third-party markets.
Over the years this cooperation has experienced a new boom with the development prospects of the Chinese nuclear fleet, to become, more recently, one of the priorities of the CEA, in support to French industrial cooperation in China and for the preparation of future generations of reactors.
