By effectively “disconnecting” supply from demand, energy storage will play a crucial role in tomorrow’s grids. CEA Tech is developing a variety of technologies—from battery-based and thermal storage to hydrogen systems—to respond to a range of needs, regulatory and budgetary requirements, and environmental concerns. Stationary storage is emerging as a crucial factor in driving the growth of intermittent renewable energy. One of the biggest challenges facing energy storage is finding a viable business model, one that will require lower costs and enable the delivery of additional services.
CEA Tech is also focusing on storage technologies for mobile applications like vehicle batteries and telephones. These technologies include micro fuel cells and micro-batteries.
