Our facility is at the center of an ecosystem of research organizations, a major university campus, 500 foreign-held firms, and 40,000 scientists, engineers, and technicians specializing in nanotechnology.
Grenoble has earned the name "France's Silicon Valley" for good reason. The city is home to world-class researchers and thought leaders in nanomaterials, making it the ideal location for the Nanosafety Platform.

Grenoble's state-of-the-art science and technology resources are centrally located on the GIANT innovation campus near the city center. GIANT is home to large scientific instruments like the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) with its particle accelerator and the Nanocharacterization Platform (PFNC), which is home to a broad range of characterization equipment and experts unrivalled anywhere else in Europe.

The GIANT (Grenoble Isère Alpes NanoTechnologies) innovation campus was set up to raise Grenoble's profile in the international scientific arena. GIANT brings together all of the universities, research organizations, and other partners located on the campus. Together, GIANT's members form one of the world's leading hubs for technology research. The Nanosafety Platform's environment also includes leading corporations, small- to mid-sized businesses and startups—all of the necessary ingredients to fuel innovation.
