While delivering the French statement in front of the 168 Member States of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), M. Daniel Verwaerde emphasized "France's commitment to the essential role of the IAEA and our appreciation for the quality of the work it provides in furthering all its missions: non-proliferation, nuclear safety and security, and promotion of the many peaceful uses of nuclear energy".

He recalled the "fundamental" role of the Agency in the implementation of the Non Proliferation Treaty, "an extremely valuable edifice for our security and for strategic stability, which must be preserved and consolidated".

Daniel Verwaerde held in the margins of the Conference a bilateral meeting with IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano, as well with several other heads of delegation.

Mr Verwaerde also inaugurated the French booth, which, for the 7th consecutive year, allows the CEA and the French industrial and institutional partners to communicate on French competences and expertise in the field of nuclear energy. France also organized a side event dedicated to the management of time scales in the nuclear field.
