Desired since the creation of the CEA, life sciences at the CEA have gradually structured themselves. This culminated with the creation in 1990 of the Life Sciences Division (DSV – Direction des sciences du vivant). Today, about 1,200 researchers are working at the DSV. Research focuses on two segments: energy and health.
Five programs coordinate the research:
Research conducted at the DSV are published in peer reviewed journals.
The life sciences at the CEA have developed within a strong culture of innovation and technology transfer. The DSV possesses equipment, platforms and expertise at the forefront of international research
The DSV contributes to the structuring of biology research in France. It is involved in national research alliances, many national research infrastructures in biology and health (Infrastructures nationales de recherche en biologie et santé) and co-administrates many joint research units (unités mixtes de recherche – UMR).
